The summer of 2005 has been a dry one in Ithaca and throughout the Finger Lakes region of New York. We have been declared in a "moderate drought" by the US Drought Monitor and conditions could be a lot worse if we had not had heavy spring rain. Since June 1, this has been the third hottest summer and the second driest summer on record (126 years).
