On Salmon Creek, a tributary of Cayuga Lake, in the village of Ludlowville, Tompkins County

Village park

It is a short walk from the parking lot to the falls overlook. There are numerous trails down into the gorge below the falls and the the large pool at the base of the pool attracts swimmers and fishermen.

This waterfall has it all! A large stream, a huge overhang, deep plunge pool, wonderful examples of the conjugate joint system found in the Ithaca area, and perfect textbook form showing a harder layer of Tully Limestone undercut when the stream erodes the softer Moscow and Ludlowville shale layers below. Then add a secondary waterfall with a spectacular jet shooting out 30 feet out from the wall.

This waterfall is photogenic in both low water and high water. However, in high water, the mist can be problematic.
