The bridge section on the near side was attached to the pier. We wish that we had also attached the pier to a large tree further up the bank (not visible in this photo).

Incidently, the 30lb. (13.5kg) rock in the lower left corner of the photo is caught on a tree root 3 feet above the bottom of the creek. It "floated" there during the flood.
