Here is the finished bridge. There are
five parts:
- The pier and removable deck on the near side - 3 x 4 x 5 feet (.9 x 1.2 x 1.5 m),
filled with rock
- The "dock" on the near side, 16 feet long (4.9 m)
- The "dock" on the far side, 20 feet long (6.1 m)
- The pier on the far side - 3 x 3 x 3 feet (.9 x .9 x .9 m),
filled with gravel and rock
- The ramp across the bog on the far side, 16 feet long (4.9 m)
The dock on the far side is tethered to a tree with 5/16" (8 mm)
steel cable. The dock on the near side is tethered to the pier with
5/16" steel cable. The two insert pieces at the bends are tethered
to the dock on the near side and the ramp on the far side, respectively,
with 1/8" (3.2mm) steel cable.
The four legs in mid-stream are 2-1/2 inch 6.4 cm) galvanized
iron pipe.
The bottom of the bridge is 27" (.69 m) above the stream
bed. The distance between the two piers is 33-1/2 feet (10.2 m). |
