Petroglyphs are peckings into the rock and are more durable than pictographs painted on the surface of the rock. However, even under protective overhangs, these creations are gradually destroyed by the weather.

This panel is on a steep ledge about 15 feet up a vertical wall. When the light changed, it was totally invisible from the ground.
