Each gate was bolted to two heavy steel pedestals with a ball-joint with leveling bolts so that the gates would be level even on hilly footpaths. The cover hides the base assembly

The cast metal parts fit into the bottom of the vinyl columns and similar angle pieces connected the vertical pieces with the horizontal piece at the top.

The whole installation was designed to be installed and removed without changing the park in any way. Once removed, the parts will all be destroyed and recycled.
