Location |
In
the Black Mountains section of Brecon Beacons
National Park in south-central Wales. |
Access |
Numerous
hiking opportunities including the Monmouth
& Breconshire Canal and foot paths in Black
Mountains of Brecon Beacons National Park.
We stayed at the Bridge End Inn in the town
of Crickhowell at the end of the 17th century
stone bridge. |
Hiking |
We had an all-day hike
to Table Mountain (400m) (Crug Hywel,
which gives Crickhowell its name), then
to Pen Cerrig-calch (700m) and Pen Allt-mawr
(720m). We returned cross country through
the beautiful Cwm Banw walley.
|
|
We
were amazed by (1) the number of sheep,
(2) the remoteness (we didn't see any
other people during the entire hike), and (3) the wind. |
