In Stony Brook Park, 5
miles south of Dansville in Steuben County. |
Access |
State Park. There is an
entrance fee during the summer season and the creek
and trails may be busy with day users and overnight
campers. During the off season, you can have the whole
park to yourself for free. |
Hiking |
Easy, on well maintained
trails with bridges and stairs. A full circuit of
both sides of the stream includes three large waterfalls
and numerous small falls and rapids, and will take
3 or 4 hours. |

Start at the Lower Park
and hike up the trail in the bottom of the gully which
is mainly on the west side of the stream. The hike
to the upper park is about 1.5 miles. You can then
return on the trail on the east side of the gully
which follows the rim for most of the way. |
