Fall Brook
High Falls is located just south of Geneseo in Livingston
County. Our mother grew up a mile from the falls and
always referred to it as "High Falls." However,
maps and the present-day locals call it Fall Brook
Falls.
This waterfall
can be approached from either the bottom or the top.
The top of the falls is less than 100 feet from the
road. The approach from the bottom is a much longer
hike up the stream (1/2 mile). Do not attempt
to scramble down from the top of the falls since the
walls of the gully are dangerously unstable and erosion-prone.
Details
The hike in
from the bottom offers solitude and chance discoveries
along the way. There are two or three small waterfalls
which we also enjoyed.
